Rules and Regulations

The rules and regulations were developed to meet the Indianapolis Municipal Codes pertaining to animal control in the city limits (see Title III, Ch. 531).

  1. Observe all park rules at all times.
  2. The CCZ is a self-monitored area. The user group is responsible for policing the area. Please do not allow unauthorized users to access the CCZ (See membership). All park users are park monitors. Please do your part to maintain order, and contribute to the long-term success of the CCZ.
  3. Dogs must be supervised and maintained under voice control at all times. Dogs may not be left unattended or out of sight range.
  4. Please extend common courtesy to other park users. If you dog(s) become(s) unruly or aggressive, you must leash your dog(s) and exit the CCZ.
  5. Dogs, owners, and users creating a disturbance or violating posted rules must leave the CCZ if requested by law enforcement personnel, park personnel, or park monitors.
  6. We realize dog owner socialization is a great added value to this off leash area. Please remember though, your first priority is the proper supervision of your dog. You must monitor your dogís behavior at all times.
  7. Lost dog tags can be replaced for a $5 fee per tag, and lost proximity readers can be replaced for a $10 fee per reader.
  8. Dogs should receive year round heart worm prevention treatment, and flea prevention treatment.
  9. Do not smoke or eat while in the CCZ. Cigarette butts and food wrappers are tempting and unhealthy for dogs. Do not bring glass containers into the CCZ.
  10. There is a seasonal drinking fountain in the CZZ available May through October. At other times of the year, you must provide your own water and bowls, and are responsible for their disposal after use. Please do not leave empty water containers in the CCZ.
  11. While small, bite sized treats are permitted, no dog food in bowls or long-lasting chews should be brought into the CCZ.
  12. Always clean up after your dog. Dog waste must be picked up and properly disposed of. Trash receptacles and litterbags are available in the CCZ for this purpose.
  13. Dogs in heat are not permitted inside the CCZ.
  14. The CCZ is open from dawn to dusk on Tuesday through Friday. On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday the CZZ opens at 8:30 am, and closes at dusk. Please be respectful of the posted hours.
  15. Dogs under four (4) months of age are not permitted. No more than two (2) dogs per person are permitted at any time.
  16. Owners must carry one leash per dog at all times. Check all entrances before unleashing your dog, and ensure that park gates are closed behind you. Dogs must be leashed while on park premises until safely inside the CCZ.
  17. Please limit your use of the CCZ to one (1) hour during peak times. At the Broad Ripple Park CCZ, the maximum number of dogs safely permitted in the zone at one time is (50).
  18. A one-day trial pass can also be purchased at the Family Center Office for a $2 fee per day per dog.
